Protection Through Sacrifice

Good doesn’t always come easy. Sacrifices are often pertinent to attain success or benefits. Wearing a necklace ridden with thorns to receive the benefits of a stone, more specifically Montana Agate in this instance, represents this feat. This talisman protects the owner but can be off putting through the perception of pain to the wearer. While the necklace itself is composed of thorns, there is good behind it. However, not everyone is willing to put themselves through perceived pain to reap the rewards.

My work explores the opposition to the seven deadly sins and the relationship between the church and God as a whole. To this day, thorns symbolize sin, sorrow, and hardship. Montana Agate, however, dispels fear, anger, jealousy, and resentment. It brings stability and grounding to the emotional body; thus defending against the seven deadly sins.
